BC Interior Mounties are hoping the public can help track down a person of interest in connection to a suspicious death investigation.

The man they are hoping to speak with is Michael Mawley. His current whereabouts are unknown, but the RCMP says he has ties throughout British Columbia, Alberta and Idaho.

Mawley’s family residence in Kingsgate, BC, a small border town near Creston, burned down suspiciously on Saturday, Nov. 19.

Once the fire was extinguished, human remains were located inside.

Police provided the following description of Mawley:

“If Michael hears or sees this call for information, we ask him to contact the police of jurisdiction,” said Insp. Brent Novakoski of the BC RCMP Major Crime Section’s Southeast District.

Anyone else who encounters Mawley is advised not to approach him and immediately call 911.
